We headed down to the Autosport show yesterday to checkout the latest racing cars. We’re pretty lucky in the UK, with a whole host of racing teams based here, including 8 of the 12 F1 teams. That’s why it is such a great place to have a motorsport show.

The show symbolises the start of the motorsport season, with teams from all sorts of motorsport categories showing off their latest cars ahead of the upcoming season. One of the highlights of the show was the F1 paddock, that gives the public the chance to get up close to some of the fastest cars in the world.

Porsche also had a great stand with a whole host of Porsches on show including the new 911 991 and the hybrid 918 RSR race car that is being used to develop the 918 production car, due in a few years time.

This year’s show also included a showcase of the cars available at the Coys Auction tonight. The standout car being the GT500 ‘Eleanor’ Mustang that was used in the filming of the Gone in Sixty Seconds movie. The car is expected to reach a price tag of around £100k and features the “go baby go” switch on the gearstick.

In addition to all the metal on show at the event, it is also a great place to see other motorsport related stuff. One of the best attractions was the iRacing simulator on their stand. I’ve heard of iRacing before, but never had the chance to have a go. They had a great set up on their stand, with three screens, a steering wheel and a racing seat on air cushions.

The Show continues until Sunday and is definitely worth a visit if you can make it there.
